Open Wireless

I had a though: "If I had bazzilions of dollars I would purchase one of those free 700 mhz radio frequency bands… then I would let anyone develop on it as long as the devices and software they developed on it were 'open'." After having this though, I realized that Google got the FCC to mandate exactly that on those 700 mhz blocks. Good for Google! If it was all open and free then development and new ideas can flourish. Anyway, Verizon purchases a big chunk of those blocks and of course they use it for their LTE network which, like everything else they sell, has a highway robbery price tag on it. Luckily, because its "open" they are forced to use a GSM 'sim card' type access system, which may mean good competition in the future.

I still think that the best idea is to create a cellular/internet mix where the data and technology is TCP/IP based but the connection is delivered by the wireless spectrum (think wifi in the 700 mhz band) though... that's pretty much how it is now.

Maybe I'm too lazy

So another reason why I started this blog:

I was sitting on the couch, eating some yogurt. After I'm done I'm thinking "Man, I'm too lazy to take this (the empty cup and spoon) to the sink..." so my rational was:

"I'll put this on the ground so the cat can lick it, after he's done, I'll take it to the sink. I'm sure he'll like a treat."

He really didn't eat it, but then the thought came to my mind "Hey, that would make a good random blog comment." So I got up and started this blog (I took the spoon to the sink too)

Post number zero

Okay I decided to start a random thoughts blog. It was kind of inspired by childhood buddy, who has several blogs. Since I'm an introverted, computer geeky cave troll, I hadn't ever started a blog. Well, it's about time I got on it! Hopefully this blog won't fall to the wayside like my Facebook account has... though deep down inside I don't care if it does :P

And that, as they say... is that.
